1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the website remember your session and ensure the Platform functions correctly.
2. Legal Basis
Under Belgian ePrivacy legislation (Art. XII.1 §2 of the Code of Economic Law) and the GDPR, strictly necessary cookies are exempt from the consent requirement, as they are essential for providing the service requested by the user.
All cookies placed by Workly fall under this category. We therefore do not require consent for these cookies, but we transparently inform you about their use.
3. What Cookies We Use
Workly uses exclusively strictly necessary cookies in the following categories:
Authentication Cookies
When you log in to the Platform, a secure session cookie is placed to keep you signed in. This cookie is encrypted, accessible only via secure connections (HTTPS), and not readable by third-party scripts. The cookie expires automatically after 7 days or upon logout.
Staff Portal Cookies
Staff members who log in via the staff portal receive a separate session cookie that manages their access to the relevant event. This cookie expires automatically after 12 hours.
Preference Storage (localStorage)
We use your browser's local storage (localStorage) to remember your cookie preferences and language setting. These are not cookies in the technical sense, but we mention them for completeness. This data never leaves your device.
4. What We Do NOT Use
Workly does not use:
- Analytics or statistics cookies (e.g., Google Analytics)
- Advertising cookies or retargeting pixels
- Social network cookies (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Cross-site tracking or fingerprinting techniques
- Third-party cookies for marketing purposes
Since we only use strictly necessary cookies, no cookie banner with consent levels is required. We do show an informational notice so you are aware.
5. Cookie Security
All authentication cookies on the Platform are secured with the following measures:
- HttpOnly: cookies are not accessible via JavaScript, protecting against XSS attacks.
- Secure: cookies are only sent over encrypted HTTPS connections.
- SameSite=Lax: protection against cross-site request forgery (CSRF).
- Automatic expiration: each cookie has a limited validity period and expires automatically.
6. Managing Cookies
You can delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Please note that deleting authentication cookies will require you to log in again.
Since we only use strictly necessary cookies, blocking them may prevent the Platform from functioning correctly.
7. Third-Party Services
The Platform uses Stripe for payment processing. When you make a payment, Stripe may place its own cookies on the payment form. These cookies are governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy and are not controlled by Workly.
8. Changes
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the Platform. The most recent version is always available here.
9. More Information
For more information about how we process your data, please see our Privacy Policy.
